A Kaleidoscope of Colours

The colours of handwoven silk textiles from Laos and Cambodia - a mixture of traditional and contemporary designs. It's been a long time between blog posts and what better way to brighten up a tumultuous January which has seen devastating floods here in Queensland, affecting thousands of homes. The beaches of Moreton Bay have suddenly become littered with the washed up remnants of people's lives - too depressing to photograph. The Bay turned to brown as tons of river silt washed out to sea and Moreton Island disappeared for a while beneath a toxic brown haze. Who knows how this will affect the turtle and dugong populations already under threat. Let's hope the Bay is as resilient as some scientists believe, but it's not a place to go swimming in right now.

The new button on my blog - BrisStyle's Handmade Ark Appeal - is another way of collecting much needed funds to assist in the overwhelming rebuilding tasks ahead. Clicking on the button will take you to participating BrisStyle Etsy stores (including mine). Purchase any item from these participating stores and funds will then be donated to the Qld. Premiers Flood Relief Fund.
